The Celebration Goes On

Last night, I made this excellent recipe for chicken which comes from my friend Maeghan who lives in Kuala Lumpur. It was unbelievably good and so easy to make and the kids loved it too! Such a good thing to have when you're almost 44!

So then to top off the pre-b-day festivities, I went hot tubbing outdoors today with a friend of mine. It turned out to be one of those picturesque hot tubbing days we had always jokingly wished for when the snowflakes are coming down gently from the sky as you sit in the soothing hot, bubbling water. And now, my old bones and muscles are feeling great.

So then, to further celebrate the aging event, a friend at work sent me this song sung recently by Julie Andrews who played Maria in the Sound of Music even though I'm not this old yet:

Malox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd
that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.)

Can't wait to try the chicken. How cool to have a recipe exchange from around the world!

That Julie Andrews song is so versatile. We used the same tune one year for our Christmas card.

And, yes, you are way too young to for any of that nonsense, but I'm glad you enjoyed your hot tub experience!

Hi Julianna!
It's your last day as 43 years old. I can hardly believe you're going to be 44!
I read the recipe for lemon chicken and I think we ought to make it when we come for Thanksgiving weekend. I'm looking forward to some real tasty food!
