Rivers

Love Thursday

11-13 fall-9693-Edit-12
"You see, the big thing for me is to love reality and not live in the imagination, not live in what could have been or what should have been or what can be, and somewhere, to love reality and then discover that God is present".
-Jean Vanier

Autumn's End

11-13 fall-9651-Edit-1
A wind has blown the rain
away and blown the sky
away and all the leaves
away, and the trees stand.
I think I, too, have known
autumn too long.

We All Fall Down

11-13 fall-9659-Edit-1

These elm leaves were very intriguing.  I went back to photograph them a couple more times because there was such beauty in this decay.

Celebration

Nov bday-9342-1
I brought red velvet cookies to church Sunday and then we picked up the girls to go to the Olive Garden for my birthday.

Red Velvet Birthday

When I was young, my grandma always made a red velvet cake for my birthday!  I looked forward to it each year because that was the only time I got it.  She used buttermilk and 3 bottles of red food coloring so it was only something you made for special occasions and since I was her namesake...
Though I don't get that cake anymore for my birthday, each year our Japanese Maple out front turns red velvet in time for November 3 and this is a celebration.
