The Last Race

allrunning

John & I have enjoyed watching Edward run for 4 years on the Cross Country team. He has made many great friends in the process and we have also. Yesterday could not have been a more beautiful day for running and I felt like all the cross country people we loved were there. Edward ran his lifetime personal record of 18:26. When it was over, I asked him if he was sad, and in typical Edward style, he said, "Uh, yeah, I guess." He knows that the most important race isn't over yet, and in that regard, cross country has been the best training for the life ahead of him.

You mmight remember the days at WHS when Cross Country was in the neophyte stage. Anne ran a marathon this last June in 4 hours 22 minutes. (and yoou know her age!) Cross Country teaches great salf discipline as well as being beneficial. Great goong Edward and CONGRATULATIONS on your time!

Hi Donna- Congratualtions to Anne - did you go to watch her?

Yes, we went to watch Anne as we knew how much effort she put into training for the marathon. We would go from vantage point to vantage point as we had a map of the route. We could not believe that she just kept going and going. Would not have missed it for the world!

She is trying to talk her father into running it next Spring. I would rather he try a 5 K if he wants to try anything.
