So yesterday since it was Saturday, John said we could do whatever I wanted.
"Hmm, I said, let's go for a hike and then go out to the Macaroni Grill."
The fall trees were still beautiful, unusual for November 3. We set our departure time for 4pm so the kids could do their Saturday stuff and we could too. Maria drove us down to a big state preservation area where we could hike deep into the Michigan Woods. We were alone in that woods.
We walked for about 3 miles through deep leaves and bumpy terrain. We enjoyed the sights and the girls even loved looking at their big brother. Maybe they do this for fun.
On the way home, John said, "That was a good hike." The whole hike thing took longer than we projected, so on the way home we decided to order pizza and have cake at home.
Since last year's Geek Gift, the external hard drive, turned out to be such a hit with me, John repeated the stunt with a Colorimeter with calibration software and a 2GB flash drive. Ok, I did request these - they will make life easier.

Colorimeter!? Major geek cred to you!
Happy birthday.
Yes, it was a good birthday!
What is a colorimeter? And will we blog-readers see the effects of it?
Hi Mar,
It's something that makes your monitor colors more accurate so when you make color corrections, hopefully it will match your prints, etc. So if you see photos on my site that seem oddly colored, then yes, it should definitely help if your screen is accurate.
I thought of you several times on your birthday. Honestly! I even discussed it with an old class mate of yours that it was the big "45". Although I didn't get a card out (which is not a shocker), pleasant thoughts and wishes were sent your way. Happy Birthday OLDER sister!
thanks Paula, I wonder who you talked to...
Happy Birthday Jewels
God Bless You :)
Thanks Anooja! Greetings from India make it even better!
You are geek, Julia. I don't even know what that stuff is! But it looks like you had a nice birthday.
Annette, I know and the thing about being a geek is I don't care because it's fun being one.
Oh no! I missed your birthday!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
Some of my favorite people in the whole world are geeks, Julia! I don't think I am . . .
