The Sands of Time
A friend of mine took a trip to Israel & Jordan in October for 2 weeks. She asked me to pray for her before she left - 2 weeks is a long time to be so far away from your family - so I did. I was thinking later that I should have asked her to bring me back some dirt or something because that would have been cool to have some actual dirt that might have been around in Bible times, but I didn't think of it at the time. She brought me back something even better - colored sand in a bottle - I don't know how they got it in there like that - from the archaeological site of Petra in Jordan. I put it next to Oma's Bijbel.

one of our family friends went on a tour to Israel. They too brought us some water from the river Jordan, from Galilee and some sand, all in simple bottles. They also got us some incense pieces in an unopenable bottle (not too sure what it is, looks like incense pieces used at the altar).
Its a nice feel.
A friend of mine too had visited Jerusalem (hes just completed a masters degree in Theology) and he wrote that it felt so good to walk the path Christ had walked, and that the feel of the place was good too..
That is so lovely.
I don't travel but one of my friends and I decided that if we do, we'd bring bottles and bring home sand. As it turns out, she already got several bottles from several places she went. I am still sandless! haha
Anooja- My friend said Jerusalem was her favorite place and will always remember the faith lessons in the real places they occurred.
Pealie - Maybe someday I can send you some!
Pearlie- You may often be Pealie to me...
Hmm ... looks like we are even ;) haha
