Welcome to the USA, Alejandra!
Yesterday, we left at about 10 am for O'Hare International Airport in Chicago to pick up Alejandra who is a 15 year old student from Spain who will be staying with us for the next month. We were connected to her through a professor at Calvin. We arrived at the airport a couple of hours early to be safe. The girls made a sign for her since we had never met her - only through pictures on the internet.
After Alejandra collected her luggage and made it through customs on her own, she came through the gate. The girls were excited to meet her and it turns out, she is a sweetheart!
We left the airport and went downtown for the best pizza in Chicago at Giordano's.
The girls hit it off...
... and we all had a good time trying to figure out what we were all talking about.
And the pizza was good, too.

Hi Julia,
Have yet to reply your mail :) and in time to view your as usual great pictures! Looking forward to more posts on updates of the happenings as the results of one additional teenager in the family.
What a great experience! You'll have to take Alejandra to Panera for egg casseroles!
Sounds like a deal, Annette, Can you meet us there?
Let me know when, Julia. I'll have to bring Katie and she and your girls can entertain Alejandra while we chat for a couple of hours. (Katie's friend Taylor, a South student, just returned from being in Spain. It would be fun to see her interact with Alejandra.)
