Beauty in the Heat

Last week we had a few days of 103 to 105 degree F temperatures here in GR.  I mostly stayed inside and drank a lot of water too.  The hydrangeas remain a colorful spot in our garden...  they have been needing extra water too, can you imagine?

Generations

This past weekend, my friend Allie asked me to come over and take some photos of their son with his grandparents since they were headed back to Thailand soon.  It was great fun to see them so enamored with the little guy.  In a way I suppose, since I did  not go the family reunion back home, this was one way to help someone else celebrate the generations.

The National Cathedral

I posted a few photos i took with my iPhone at the National Cathedral, but here is one taken with my camera.  We met someone with a youth group from South Carolina who offered to take one of all of us.

I took a lot of senior photos of Bridget - yes, my youngest will be a senior - so hence I wore my fave photographer shorts with all the pockets :)

Quite a building!  Washington National Cathedral, is a cathedral of the Episcopal Church located in Washington, D.C. Of neogothic design, it is the sixth-largest cathedral in the world, the second-largest in the United States, and the fourth-tallest structure in Washington, D.C.

Construction began on September 29, 1907, when the foundation stone was laid in the presence of President Theodore Roosevelt and ended 83 years later when the last finial was placed in the presence of President George H. W. Bush in 1990.  It was damaged last year, so when we saw it, there was scaffolding around much of the top and one of the pinacles was down on the ground with fencing around it.

Flash Back Friday 259

This is a video I made of photos from our years at the OBX, 2004 to 2011 with music.  I'm going to update it eventually with this years pix, but for now, take a look!

Surfing USA

The surf was good at the OBX, a bit rough some time!  Andrea took the opportunity to rent a surfboard and hit the waves.

OBX time

We went to the Outer Banks, North Carolina for our 9th and final time last week.  Edward and Maria couldn't go again and since it is getting more difficult for the older kids to go, we decided to maybe try something else next year.  The group was looking especially photogenic this year and we got some good ones!
