This weekend, John, Bridget & I went to the Michigan State Odyssey of the Mind Finals in Traverse City with Maria's team. We were exactly between the North Pole and the Equator and while waiting for the scores, we took a mental break and drove over the 45th parallel.
The water in Lake Michigan there is as blue as the Caribbean Sea.
And the hills have grape vineyards and cherry trees.
Over 1000 students participated in the State Finals.
We were excited to see Maria's team do well enough to finish 2nd in their division. They are advancing to the World Finals! Wouldn't you know, they are being held in Michigan this year, a few hours south of the 45th parallel.

I heard the good news last night, Julia! Congratulations to Maria and her teammates! I wondered where the world OM would be held. Michigan? Yay!
BTW--I gave the link to your dad's TV show to Henry, and he really liked it. He's going to translate for me sometime so I can know what's going on.
Cool Annette, Maybe he can translate it for me too sometime if my Dad doesn't before that!
Congratulations! How wonderful!
Thanks, Pearlie!
Ah yes, forgot to say that the pictures of Michigan are fabulous. Maybe I'd visit Canada one day after all and drop by your place! lol ... however, I am not that close to these two friends of Noel as to visit them, so if I do come, I'd come to visit YOU :)
Sounds good, Pearlie!
