We got to go to a PICNIC when grandma and Opa came up last Friday!

After the picnic we went to the exhibit where many friends and family came.

Sacred Dimensionality

Last Friday evening, the reception for the Senior Art Exhibition was in the Center Art Gallery at Calvin College.  Maria had the opportunity to talk to President Michael Le Roy about her piece, Sacred Dimensionality.


She received a book from the director of exibitions,


and a handshake from her art professor.

So the flowers Christopher brought actually got a bit more photogenic as the week wore on.


And I wanted to point out the Lenten Roses which were in the middle of Jeanette's tulip garden! Very pretty!

When I was at Jeanette's house taking tulip pictures, her cat kept meowing at the window to get out.


He must have remembered me from last year when I photographed him!

Happy Birthday, a day late, Queen Mother

This was the 70th birthday portrait I took of the Queen Mother when she was here for Edward's Calvin graduation two years ago.  This Saturday, Maria is graduating and she and Dad are able to come for part of the graduation weekend!

Love Thursday: Tulips

The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing to find the place where all the beauty came from - CS Lewis. 

This time of year, I get kind of sad when I pass by the tulips without stopping to pay attention since they will soon be gone, so when Jeanette invited me to go see her garden for awhile, I was glad. She sure knows how to grow them! She had such a great variety.

Mother's Day

The girls came over this past Sunday for a Mother's Day cookout. We had a great time!


Maria brought her boyfriend Christopher and we got to meet him! So great.


He brought me this flowers... he's a winner!

Sixth Street Bridge

This was probably my favorite photo taken after the wedding. This bridge is landmark in downtown GR and when we walked over to it, there was a wedding party of about 20 there getting their photo taken.

Wedding Capture

I took photos this past weekend for a wedding at LaGrave CRC, a beautiful old church in downtown Grand Rapids.  It was unforgettable! So glad to be a part of it!

Pastor Appreciation

Last Sunday, we had Pastor Appreciation at Monroe Community Church and recognized the hard work of our pastors. The photo above is a special prayer time.  Once, Pastor Henry talked about how much he loves donuts, so the cake below was a surprise for them.

Bachelor of Arts Senior Exhibition

Maria is graduating this month from Calvin College with a double major in Art and Spanish and a minor in Psychology. She hopes eventually to go into the field of Art Therapy. She had to submit pieces into the Senior Exhibition.


This is part of one piece called Sacred Dimensionality with John viewing another in the background. I loved it and took over 70 photos of it. The reception is May 23 and I'll definitely take more then.
