On the last day of the year, I always like to think back to my favorite images that I've taken during the year during each month. In some cases, I have to choose more than one. One thing that's true is I always remember times the best when they are preserved like this.

Scene from The Birds
Last week when I was in Chicago, I saw some pigeons next to the river and I was all one with nature for awhile taking these pix when a friend of theirs clunked me in the head.
I started walking slowly back trying to get their picture so you could see their beautiful blue hue and so I could have proof that they were chasing me in case they mauled me to death.
Then, they started flying after me while I ran away with my camera over my shoulder.
They kept following me up the steps.
Thankfully, I could climb up them faster than their bird feet hop up and I got away!

Waiting
A wind has blown the rain
away and blown the sky
away and all the leaves
away, and the trees stand.
I think I, too, have known
autumn too long.

She's Home!
Maria is home after spending 4 months in Peru for her Spanish major at Calvin College. Since she spent the summer in Colorado, we have hardly seen her this year. But now she's back seeming a lot older and glowing from the sun near the equator. It was quite indescribable seeing her come off the plane and sharing the excitement with 5 of her Calvin friends who live in GR. Many of her friends have left for Christmas already.
We brought her straight away to see Bridget who was at work and that too was sweet.
