Last night, we went to church and went through the stations of the cross that some of the small groups in our church had set up. It was a good way to remember Jesus' sacrifice during this week before Easter. Our small group did the station where Jesus was condemned to death as found in John 19. We showed Jesus with the crown of thorns and a purple robe. Since the person viewing the station was in Pilate's shoes, we had a gavel and a bowl of water where they would stand. For the angry crowd who was shouting "Crucify" I took photos of angry faces of people at church and we printed them in B&W and put them all over the backdrop with mirrors interspersed throughout. It was sobering to think how it was our anger that condemned Him.

I was reading Luke 23 this morning, alone in the house, and saying or hollering the words... including "crucify Him." It was nearly frightening to have it so near my heart, out of my mouth ... your creative site at your church is more real than most of us in our day ever think "we" would fit in...
It was a group effort - we thought of it together as we read through the passage and I really wanted to take the photos of people in our church with angry faces. It was interesting that no one questioned why I was doing it but maybe hat's because I take a lot of pix. Several people told us afterward they were moved by it, one lady to tears even.
The other stations were also very meaningful. We began the nigh with a potluck and had communion and then walked through the stations together.
